Prediction: Crimea Independence Vote
Tomorrow, March 16, 2014, the Crimean Autonomous Republic is voting for independence from Ukraine in a republic-wide referendum.
As I have said before, my prediction is: 75%, plus/minus 5%, will vote for independence from Ukraine and for re-joining Russia as a subject of the Russian Federation. The result could be as high as 80%.
In the run-up to the referendum, the Crimean government has done something very smart: they have afforded the Tatar language the status of the third official language, along with Russian and Ukrainian – something that Ukraine had repeatedly refused to do, therefore securing the Tatar minority’s pro-Russian vote. Compare that with how #Kiev unelected authorities are acting: they have banned Russian TV channels and #Russian language as a second state language, promising the continuous forceful ukrainization of the Russian population. As a reminder: up to 70% in Ukraine consider themselves Russian regardless of their ethnicity, and nearly 90% speak Russian on a daily basis. Meanwhile, in Crimea 97% of the population is Russian-speaking.
The Crimean referendum, to which many international observers have been invited, is happening in the atmosphere of the overwhelming hysteria and threats by the US/EU/UK politicians and Western media, as well as constant attempts by Kiev and Ukrainian nazis to disrupt/sabotage it.

Those who are screaming about Russia’s “invasion of Crimea,” those who are threatening Russia with sanctions, should remember this:
They were the ones who created instability in #Ukraine. It was USA’s $5bln as admitted by Assistant US Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, spent on “subverting Ukraine,” on manipulating the maidan, and on training/arming nazi thugs in western Ukraine that created this situation. Watch leaked Nuland video.
They were the ones who made it impossible for the Russian-speaking population to exist on their own land as long as it remained part of the unfriendly territory of Ukraine.
They were the ones whose intention was – and continues to be – to create the area of Middle East-like instability in Ukraine in order to destabilize #Russia, sabotaging its normal existence and development.

I agree with you. The question now is what will the West do?
Lots of noise and disinfo to vilify Russia. In reality, they can’t do much as far as sanctions. Anything they do will only expedite Russian economy transition/re-orientation to the East.
The dangerous part is the military build-up of NATO troops on Ukraine’s border. However, the worst thing is that they can’t do much openly against Russia, so their only recourse is the dirty terrorism and sabotage. So, Russia and Crimea have to brace themselves for a wave of terrorism directed from the West.
Crimea shot down 2 US drones, btw.
There is a lot of ugly stuff going on. I’ll speak more about it soon.

As an American expat living in Zaporozhye oblast you can also add Zaporozhye to that list, there has already been talk in the regional parliament about succession. We think Ukraine will split into 3, Crimea will go to Russian, East UA will form their own land ( Ukraine) and west Ukraine will be Galiziea.

When comes to politics, it’s real hard to say what’s right or wrong, for Russians in Ukraine, they will say they want Russians to come in, for Ukrainians they will say Russians get out.
As I see it, neither Russia nor Ukraine is saint, since Crimea is relatively quite rich, why not form a real independent country instead? To join Russia is to allow Putin and his mafia partners to rob the wealth in Crimea. The middle class in Russia as a group is getting dissatisfied with Putin’s rule. This is like out of the frying pan into the fire. Why ordinary people allow themselves to be manipulated by politicians?
Because, my dear, you are, like so many others, a victim of the Western propaganda. There is no dissatisfaction with Putin’s “rule” as you put it, and his leadership is not a “mafia,” but a democratically elected and time tested government, with MASSIVE support both in his country and abroad.
Any Western govt would have given anything for 1/2 of the support Putin enjoys.
Yes, there are those who portray it as such both in Russia and of course in the overwhelming US/UK/EU propaganda, but that is because they are a part of the same Western-manipulated mafia – the only real mafia out there.
I bet you even have no idea about the Western-financed NGOs in Russia, Ukraine, Middle East and other countries, and their role in inciting color revolutions?
I won’t go into details as it’s very involved, but to understand, you might consider reading my actual articles, the links to which are in the body of the reblog. No offence, but you obviously don’t understand at all what’s going on in Ukraine, which does not suprise me.
What I have noticed is this interesting new tendency of some in the West to throw their arms up in the air in surrender and confusion: “Ah, they all are bad, they all are equally corrupt, I don’t trust anyone.” This is a natural consequence of the US propaganda, which you’ve been fed with your mother’s milk. Most people, scared of doing their own research and thinking for themselves, just turn cynical and/or hide their heads in the sand like an ostrich.
There is only one remedy against the matrix propaganda: think! Reading my articles/listening to my interview, as well as others (I provide links) is a good start.
The rest is up to you.
Excellent point Lada, with 97% of the votes from Crimea, clearly the majority has spoken, wanting independent gov’t and self determination. I applaud their resolve and bravery against imperialistic forces. Russia never said it will take over and annex Ukr., that’s what the West wants to spin, spreading disinformation creating a pretext to invade sovereign countries around the world for economic & political exploitation.
Case in point: the US would rather back the illegitimate Ukr. Nazi party which staged the takeover coup, instead of supporting a DEMOCRATIC Crimea. What a bunch of fascist hypocrites, the truth is US was never a functioning democracy – just a cover for the elite corporatocracy to destabilize and rape the world. Great reporting Lada!
