I’m continuing with THE EARTH SHIFTER excerpts. Today’s entertaining episode is about the mysterious and beautiful brunette with clandestine plans, called simply “Red,” her Underworld castle, and Kei’s drag racing in his new magical car. While reading this, you’ll notice that I know my drag racing. If you think that I might have had this kind of experience in my life – neah, not really. Me, I’ve always been a proper little girl. However, I really do possess first-hand knowledge of how it’s done. How, you ask? Believe it or not, from my hubby, who was quite a daredevil in his previous life and who was known to climb steep mountains, cycle and drag race along the Canarsie Pier in Brooklyn, just as it is described in the book. So, the technical details here come straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak. 😉

Hello, everyone! I’m settling down at my new house and don’t have the Internet yet. Presently, sitting at the nearby Starbucks and catching up on things. As soon as I get my Internet connection back, I’ll again be my usual social self. Till then, please enjoy an excerpt from THE EARTH SHIFTER. Chapter 6 is one of the pivotal parts of the book, where the NWO conspiracy gets first hinted at and the spy intrigue starts gathering steam. This is also the chapter where the metaphysical mystery of the Key is tantalizingly dangled before an evil power seeker, who’ll stop at nothing to accomplish his clandestine goals. Will he succeed? This is a trillion-and-a-half dollar question!

One of my wonderful readers, Patricia Tilton of the Children’s Books Heal blog, has recently remarked that she enjoys my “cliffhanger writing style.” What can I say, I love to create a twist here and a turn there, which no one would expect. The population of the red planet Catharsis, on the outskirts of the Andromeda Galaxy, is exceedingly beautiful. Alas, no one on Catharsis cares what the Uglies prefer. Being ugly is considered a contagious disease, and the Uglies are herded into a special reservation called Camp Ugly, where they live out their drudgery behind an electric fence. But the Uglies don’t seem to fret as they raise their young, guard the planet’s Crystalline Engine, and sing their heart-stopping songs to the Goddess of All, Mother Mu. And so, both races co-exist without much interaction, until the ultimate disaster strikes.

Morf is a seventeen-year-old Ugly who finds himself in the middle of it all. He is thrust fatefully into the leadership position when no one else can fill its shoes.
