The Dark Yergall is a great dystopian fantasy set well into the future, but it has a disturbingly real resonance to the world we live in today. Much like the Orwellian society in 1984, this future world is creepy and punctured with mindless, thoughtless official propaganda designed to make the populace believe they reside in a utopia, even if the opposite is true. The author achieves his goal of presenting a grotesque, crazy, mind-numbing system, while also filling his world with aliens, nonsensical bureaucratic sound bites, futuristic terminology and even some humor. The main character, Nosir Rag, is the GenMod (genetically modified person), who is about to find out what this society is really like.
