Tricks for the enjoyable ebook reading experience

As opposed to paperbacks, which we all love, ebooks may seem different and intimidating, unless you are tech savvy. But ebooks are really quite easy to read, if you know a few tricks! Ebooks can be read if you have a Kindle reader (for other retailers it’s Nook, IPad, Sony reader, etc.). Ebooks can also be read on any Android Tablet such as Archos. Archos allows for reading ebooks in any format – unlike some of the dedicated readers that restrict you to reading in a specific format, thus limiting you to a specific ebook retailer.

If you don’t have any of these, no problem!

KINDLE for PC can be downloaded FREE on Amazon when you purchase any ebook. You’ll see this option right on top of the book cover. It’s called KINDLE APP. Therefore, any ebook can be downloaded and read directly on your computer!

(“This was a deliberate attempt to shoot down the Russian presidential plane carrying Vladimir Putin one his way from the Latin American visit,” wrote blogger Lada Rey, in all-caps.) But as Russia’s RT, another state-run news outlet, debunked shortly thereafter, Putin’s plane has not flown over Ukraine since the start of conflict there, and he certainly wasn’t flying that flight path Thursday. At the time, Putin was returning to Moscow from Brazil.

I want to thank this reader one more time for a nice mention and for thinking of me so highly! It means a lot. I am not using her name in this post as I am not sure whether she would like that.

Many of you may know how I feel about the American MSM. Certainly, I wouldn’t say ‘no’ should someone in the mainstream press or TV ask me to genuinely, truly speak my mind, and not in the derogatory way as is portrayed in this ‘MSM article.’ The more people hear my true message, the better! Of course, they would also have to spell my name correctly, for start. But I think at least one of these would be a real miracle to hope for.

Many of you also know that my opinion and prediction is that the global alternative and citizen media is what really counts today, and will count even more tomorrow. Consider this: to get my name mentioned in that Washington Post piece, someone had to do a google search, where I must have come on top.

To illustrate this, I want to give you a bit of statistics from the FuturisTrendcast blog.

On July 18, after I published my article: Blatant #FalseFlag: #Ukraine Missile Targeted #Putin’s Plane – Hit Malaysia #MH17 Instead!, and when the Washington Post piece came out, I had the following stats:

Moscow Metro Tragedy and Malaysian Airliner MH17 Downing, visits and search engine stats are similar, but some top referrers stats go somewhat down, while clicks from washingtonpost.com jump to 163 (delayed reaction, I guess).

Top viewership countries for 7/18: USA (by far), Australia, UK, Netherlands, Malaysia, Canada, Germany, and many more.

Today’s morning top viewership so far: USA, Australia, Canada, Slovakia, UK, Netherlands, Malaysia, Russia, Germany, Japan, S. Africa, France, Romania, Singapore, Poland, etc.

I think this illustrates very well the power of alternative and citizen media in the dissemination of the information.

Hello, everyone!

I have received some questions about where I’d disappeared lately and whether my books are still a part of #KDPSelect program.

As some of you may know, very recently I have moved my residence, and I am presently settling down. I love the new house; it’s nice, yet substantially smaller than my old one. I am rather happy about that since I don’t have to waste as much time taking care of the property. Instead, I can let my creative juices flow more freely, while concentrating fully on things that matter – namely my various spiritual, creative and life projects that have been blossoming wonderfully.

I don’t quite know what to make of this book, and I mean that in the best sense. It captures my attention and I will re-read it soon.

This review made me giggle, but it certainly was a giggle meant in the best sense! 😉

I guess I should be flattered that Green Desert captured someone’s attention and made them think. This was my intention you know. So, a funny review – yes; but I’ll take it! Perhaps my ideas and thoughts will be mainstream one day. Like with the 100 Monkeys Theory, it takes only a small percentage of people to shift to a new way of thinking – and acting (!) – in order to create a massive paradigm shift for humanity. 

Till then, I’ll keep dreaming, writing and speaking out…

Each of the books I’ve written is about justice, peace and/or kindness amid the most adverse circumstances. Most of my books feature amazing and beautiful animals, both wild and domestic. I am very passionate about the beauty of our Mother Earth and about her animals being treated with respect and care they deserve.

THE EARTH SHIFTER features one of the miracles of Lake Baikal – its endemic seals (Nerpa), Siberian Bear, wolves, White Eagle, as well as the majestic Siberian Tiger; both STEPFORD USA and GOLD TRAIN feature rescued super-intelligent and heroic cats and dogs; and even my sci-fi novelette CATHARSIS includes a note of warning against cruelty and about the need for animal protection and preservation.

For a while, I’ve been considering donating profits from my book sales to a no-kill animal shelter and animal rescue in New York State, USA and in Siberia, Russia. I’ve done some research, and these are the organizations that clearly stand out.

NEW YORK, USA

Tompkins County SPCA http://www.spcaonline.com/ The first ever no-kill animal shelter in US History! Provides shelter to 3,000 animals annually.

The Tompkins County SPCA was incorporated in February 1902 in an effort to prosecute individual cases of cruelty. In 1999, the SPCA Board of Directors resolved to become a “no kill” shelter, maintaining its no-kill status continuously since 2001-2002. Animal People, a prominent national journal on animal issues, ranked Tompkins County (Ithaca, NY) the safest community for companion animals in the United States. P.S. Ithaca (home to Cornell University and Buddhist Monastery – Dalai Lama’s Seat in North America) has also been voted the most spiritual city in the USA.

Catskill Animal Sanctuary, Saugerties, NY http://casanctuary.org/

Located in the New York’s Hudson Valley, Catskill Animal Sanctuary (CAS) is a 110-acre haven for horses and farm animals rescued from cruelty and neglect. In addition to emergency rescue, CAS provides innovative programs that educate the public about the sentience of farm animals, and the devastating impacts of agribusiness and institutionalized cruelty on animals, people, and the planet.

CAS offers weekend and special group tours, vegan cooking classes,speaking engagements, a summer day camp for kids, and a host of compassionate programming year round at its primarily solar-powered Sanctuary. Since 2001, CAS has rescued over 2,000 animals, and has worked in tandem with law enforcement to bring animal abusers to justice. Catskill Animal Sanctuary’s mission is to rescue and rehabilitate farm animals and horses, to advocate for the abolition of institutionalized cruelty to animals through education, and to help people adopt a cruelty-free lifestyle.

SIBERIA, RUSSIA

Siberian Tiger, aka Amur Tiger, aka Ussurian Tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) – IUCN Red Book endangered species. The largest cat and most magnificent tiger in the world, currently, only about 350 adult tigers are left in the wild (about 450 individuals all together), 95% of them in the Russian Far East.

Publishing Paradigm Shift. What Is Better: Amazon KDP Select or Broad Distribution?

Amazon KDP Select (KDPS) or broad distribution through multiple channels – in other words, to be or not to be. For me, it was a cause of much vacillation for the past year.

Finally, I have happily parted ways with #KDPSelect, not planning to ever return, barring some sort of massive revamping of their system. My books are back to #BN and #Smashwords, and slowly but surely they are also posting on #Kobo, #Sony and #Apple as well. I am also making both CATHARSIS and GREEN DESERT free everywhere, to celebrate this joyous occasion! Are Negative Reviews Worth Our Attention?

As the author of 5 books, including 1 epic novel (THE EARTH SHIFTER), 2 full-size novels (GOLD TRAIN & STEPFORD USA) and 2 novelettes (Catharsis, Legend of the Lemurians & Green Desert), I’ve received lots of fabulous reviews, as well as my fair share of negative ones. I suppose it’s natural, as it’s impossible for everyone to like our writing. That said, it is so much easier to write pop lit, which goes down easily and is consumed as the mental equivalent of coke or white flower cake. Chances of receiving a low starred review are also much lower if the subject you write about is a “consensus” one, in other words, the society at large agrees that the way you present your story (or topic for non-fiction)  is how it should play out. Another way of saying this is that you are “politically correct” and your point of view is accepted by society as a dominant one.

It is a very different thing to be at the forefront of change, stimulating people’s thought and imagination. Those of us brave enough to write about controversial and important topics that we want to help people understand, unwittingly subject themselves to attacks and criticism of the lowest nature from those who fail to understand or are unwilling to accept.

We are continuing our multimedia Russian adventure through stories, pics and vids. Today, we’ll be watching several very cool vids from our friends at the Real Russia Video Blog. What I especially like is that these are authentic Russian life vids. And another interesting thing is that both Sergeys live in Ufa, located in the Ural Mountains next to Siberia, and this is their virgin visit to the capital of Russia (to be sure, they came back for later vids). All this brings a certain sense of discovery to the Moscow experiences through their fresh eyes. Enjoy!

Zero Kilometer & Red Square. Red Square hardly needs an introduction. Experience first hand the unique energy of this place through the eyes of Russians visiting it for the very first time. Zero Kilometer is a point from which all roads in Russia begin. It is a symbolic marker located next to the Red Square, at the very beginning of Moscow’s, and all of Russia’s, principal street, Tverskaya Ulitsa. The historic Tverskaya runs from Red Square through the entire Moscow, turning into the highway to Saint Petersburg on the city’s outskirts. This famous street plays an important role in my books, THE EARTH SHIFTER and GOLD TRAIN.

The continuation of the Beautiful Russia Series is here and today’s highlight is Moscow!

Every September, Red Square hosts International Military Band Festival, Spasskaya Tower, featuring military bands from all over the world. Grand finale of the festival – joint band showcase. 

I love this city, where I was born and where I spent some of the happiest moments of my early childhood. What’s more, Moscow is featured prominently in two of my books: the top-rated metaphysical fantasy/thriller THE EARTH SHIFTER & mystery/thriller GOLD TRAIN (Accidental Spy Russia Adventure).

According to the Russians, Moscow is where Russia’s heart is. Affectionately, it is referred to as “Moscow, the city of white stone” – Moskva Belokamennaya.” Although the present day Kremlin Wall is red brick, the ancient Moscow Kremlin, churches and other buildings were white stone, as seen on the Kremlin picture above, and as you would notice in the many architectural treasures of the Golden Ring of Russia. How to Get Your Very Own Book Category on Amazon

Wh…wha….what? Getting your very own book category on Amazon???? Yeah, right, you say. As it stands right now, KDP (Amazon indie publishing platform) is missing even mainstream categories to list some of our books accurately, as I found out during my free promo a few days ago. For example, my book GOLD TRAIN (Accidental Spy Russia Adventure), should be listed in the following categories:

1. Mystery & thrillers – thrillers – tales of espionage & intrigue & 2. Romance – romantic mystery.

Guess what, “thrillers” is as far as KDP categories go, although “tales of espionage and & intrigue” is available on Amazon! And with “romance” they only offer “romantic suspense” (not entirely appropriate at all), but no “romantic mystery” (totally appropriate), although again, this category is available and I’ve seen some books listed.

So, you think the title of this post is a joke? Nope, honest to goodness truth! Some ARE getting not only all the categories their hearts desire, but also, their very own categories on Amazon, like the well known TV series Stargate Atlantis, which has been adapted as novels.

Below are some exciting news for those who’ve asked about my upcoming books & about plans to release my ebooks in print! I am happy to report that:

2. In April, I’m also releasing Earth Keepers Chronicles: Book 2 – Lemurian Crystal & Book 3 – Atlantis. These two novelettes will come out as separate ebooks.
